Grade 6
Sixth grade marks a transition year where children further solidify their academic skills in preparation for middle school, with a focus on complex math concepts, advanced reading comprehension, and critical writing abilities. They'll engage in interactive learning experiences, fostering independence, critical thinking, and a deeper sense of responsibility for their learning journey.
In sixth grade, students will attend art and the school library one time per week. They will also have the guidance counselor provide instruction in their classroom every other week. Students will attend PE and Music three times per week. In sixth grade, students can choose to participate in orchestra and/or band. Full group rehearsals are before school and lessons are provided during the school day. Additionally, students can choose to be part of the school extracurricular choir. Breakfast and lunch are offered for first grade students. Students will have opportunities for brain breaks and recess throughout their day.
